Mevelyn McCloud
I am a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an Accounting emphasis. In addition, I have obtained an Associate of Applied Science degree in Journalism Arts Technology from Mt. Hood Community College.
I have written news and feature articles for two local special-interest publications, The Advocate Newspaper and Venture Magazine. I have also taken and developed photographs – I know my way around a darkroom in color as well as black and white – for these publications. I have written editorials and film reviews for a company newsletter, The Grapevine.
If I had to choose between writing fiction and non-fiction, I would choose fiction because it gives me a chance to create worlds. I have written poetry that the World of Poetry Society thought was good enough to award me with their Golden Poet award, but poetry is not my interest. I rather fancy song lyrics. However, a song lyric without a musician is merely a rhyming verse. One of my rhyming-verse song lyrics won an 8th place award from the Music City Song Festival.
I have written fiction of which one work was published in a local literary magazine, Perceptions, as well as one of my photographs. My other works of fiction I have self-published in digital web book format. I am looking to convert them to an mp3 format for my inventory.
I have designed and written digital and print brochures for two local small businesses. I have designed simple websites.
I am also listed in the Marquis Who's Who.
